Dr. Nahal completed her undergraduate studies from McMaster University in Biology and Psychology and pursued her Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. There, she earned numerous awards and scholarships including American Optometric Foundation Carl Zeiss Vision Fellowship, Walman Optical Scholarship, Varilux Student Award and Vistakon J. Pat Cummins Acuvue Award. She went on to complete a Residency with subspecialty in Refractive and Ocular Surgery co-management through Pacific University from IRIS Ophthalmology Clinic in Langley, which at that time was the only accredited position in Canada. She has also recently completed her Optometric Extension Clinical Curriculum Program.

As an optometry student, Dr. Nahal wore many hats. Most significantly, she served as the President of Canadian Association of Optometry for Students (CAOS), Student Liaison for Vision Institute of Canada (VIC) and Student Liaison for Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). She was also an active member of Lion’s club conducting school screenings and VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) participating in mission trip to Cameroon. During her academic training she had the privilege to do her internships in Toronto and Waterloo and completed her Ocular Disease externship at the prestigious, University of Texas Southwestern Ophthalmology Clinic. From her rotations and residency, Dr. Nahal gained extensive experience in therapeutic treatment and management of eye diseases including but not limited to glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract, refractive and corneal surgeries, retinal conditions, and specialty contact lens fittings. Her most recent work with Optometric Extension Program Foundation (OEPF) has given her tools to conduct in office vision therapy related to Learning Related Visual Problems, Visual Dysfunctions and Strabismus and Amblyopia.

Dr. Nahal is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. She is TPA certified and practices full scope optometry serving all ages.
